Why IKO & IWO

Why we base our instruction on the IKO methods.

There are thousands of instructors. They all teach the same things in different ways.
Often people show up, say they have a few days and want to learn to kite. Most schools and car camping instructors will take the money and give them quick, lessons on the basics. Enough to get them in the air and in the water, but not the opportunity to really practice the skills in those lessons.

That makes for a dangerous situation for the student and everyone around them.

What do you think happens If you learn the basics of how to fly a kite but aren’t taught how to body drag up wind, or how to self-rescue? When your kite deflates, or goes down or you lose your board, what do you do? You will be in a difficult and dangerous situation.

Accountability and standards are the primary reasons we support and participate in the IKO.
